Recently JKA acquired exclusive intellectual property rights to the Configurable Bio-Transport Systems Simulator [CB-TSS], a computer based platform for the rapid development of physiological process models. This patented invention is the result of work begun several years ago by JKA’s founder, John Keane, and disclosed in a U.S. PTO application in 1998.Dr. Keane was fully engaged in the area of computational mechanics during graduate studies at Carnegie Mellon University, as an architect/developer at Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory of configurable modeling applications in areas such as fluid mechanics and, structural mechanics, as a teacher of mechanics at Drexel University and as consultant providing mathematical modeling services to industry. More recently, he has concentrated on the development and patenting of CB-TSS. This knowledge, gained from formal training and direct experience, forms the basis for his analytic contribution to CB-TSS. JKA intends to partner with firms currently supplying complementary bioinformatics products to biotech companies engaged in the discovery and development of drugs. These partners already have established relationships with JKA's target industrial market. CB-TSS offers these partners an opportunity for synergistic sales. JKA also intends to partner with companies supplying imaging equipment to radiology groups, hospitals and research institutions. Here computer images from the equipment provide patient-specific anatomy for simulations of individual behavior ranging from predicting the near-term outcome of bypass operations to long-tern forecasts of the course of chronic diseases.
